A Look at Hawaii

Greetings from sunny Hawaii!  We are staying at the Aulani Disney Resort & Spa.  We arrived last night and were greeted with a sweet smelling lei and a refreshing drink.  While Brian checked in, I cheked out the view from the lobby.  This is what our place looks like.

The lazy river goes all around the interior of the grounds.  The water park is pretty amazing and Disney's attention to the details is very evident in the resort.  It is beautiful and the rooms are wonderful too!

Today we went to the Dole Plantation in Wahiawa.  Here are a few pictures from there.

It is hard to tell, but these plants are platned in the shape of a pineapple.  A top view would show it better, but there was nothing to stand on.

The fish were crazy!

This is a gum tree.  The bark looks like it is painted with different colors.

We drove to the Waimea Valley this afternoon where we hiked the trails and saw over 5,000 species of tropical plants. The botanical garden is 150 acres and the trails lead up to the Waimea Wataerfall.

We drove along the North Shore and watched the waves crash against the rocks.

This is one big turtle! They had the area roped off with a sign that asked you to stay behind the rope.
